April is starting with a bang. Last week, there was a snowstorm, and tonight, a very loud thunderstorm. It has passed now, and the dogs no longer feel like we are under attack.
I wonder what they will think of tomorrow's solar eclipse. Everything else has just been a lead-up to the big event. Weather permitting, we might have something unusual to share at our meeting on Wednesday.
This week's presentation should be something special: an opportunity to learn more about La Crosse's newly completed plan to end homelessness and ask questions about it. If you want to do a little bit of homework ahead of time, here's the link to the city's planning document:
Take advantage of an opportunity to do community service while enjoying a social activity in Downtown La Crosse. On Saturday, April 27, Valley View Rotary will help Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. plant flowers in the planters along the sidewalks. Meet at The Main at 9:30 a.m., where Matt Mahlum will provide coffee to get us fired up. We’ll plant until noon and then convene at the Bodega for lunch.
Request from Northside Elementary
Northside Elementary has requested our help in purchasing playground supplies and classroom snacks. If you can contribute, you can either Venmo your donation to Dick Spencer or purchase the items yourself and bring them to Rotary for Julie Nelson to drop off. If you need ideas, here is a link to her Amazon list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2ZYKDVNEUZS25?ref_=wl_share
If you have any questions, ask Julie Nelson for more info.
