Hats off to the iFeed team and everyone who piled non-perishable food into Julie's orange Honda. Valley View won the Team Food Drive Award for most items collected, and our crew on the scene picked up the award for Best Team Apparel!
Thanks to Julie for leading the team as captain, to Nancy for coming up with cute tie-dye bandanas at the last minute, and to Tan for bringing our team an extra box to pack when the other teams were falling behind.
District 6250 Vibrant Club Workshop 2023-2024: Amy Bettis and Shari Lafreddi attended the workshop in Tomah on November 4. It was an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with club members from other parts of the district and also to get acquainted with several District officers who were in attendance, including:

Following the theme of "Create Hope in the World," they broke out into teams for an exercise in generating ideas for a few different scenarios using the "Yes, Because, And" method. This method ensures that ideas are not met with negative comments such as, "We've never done it that way before" or "That won't work in my club." Instead, it is met with affirmation that the idea could work (Yes), why it could work (Because), and then add to it how it could be improved (And). It generated lots of great ideas and revealed examples of things other clubs have done successfully. It was well worth the time!
Valley View Rotary Club received a Certificate of Appreciation for our financial support of the End Polio Now: Countdown to History Campaign.
Open World Update
Several team members are finishing up final tasks as a result of hosting our extraordinary delegation from Georgia, such as expense reconciliation, paying the last of our bills, putting reports together required by the Open World organization, and sending Thank You notes to all of the organizations who generously gave their time to the delegates as part of the program we put together.
We recognize that many of these organizations are non-profits whose time is valuable but who freely donated many hours to preparing for our delegation's visit and delivering presentations to them. In recognition of their efforts and of the work they do daily in support of crime prevention and rehabilitation of former prisoners, we are working on gathering $3,000 in donations to split among the 11 non-profits we worked with. We are 1/3 of the way to our goal, so if anyone has not yet contributed but would like to, please see Dick or Jim to make your donation. Thank you!

La Crosse area Rotarians are joining with the Rotary Club of Matagalpa and the non-profit Rayo de Sol on a global grant project to provide 100 Rain Harvesting systems to families living in rural Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
