Ways you can help CMN
Make a Gift
Miracle Treat Day
We are inviting area Rotary clubs to host a club social at participating stores on Miracle Treat Day on July 27th! Local Dairy Queens team up with CMN by donating $1 or more for every Blizzard Treat sold. This is a family friendly opportunity supporting a Rotary area of focus, saving mothers and children.
Radiothon
Radiothon is held in the clinic lobby at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse in partnership with Midwest Family Broadcasting. Through the 24-hours of the event, families, providers, and kids are interviewed live on air. The phone bank teams consist of up to 8 volunteers that answer phone calls, make calls out, and take donations! Registration for teams available here: bit.ly/cmnradiothon2023
Please join us this week to hear Peter Grabow update us on the Mayo Clinic La Crosse Hospital progress.
Moon Tunes 2023
Moon Tunes is growing bigger than ever this year! This Thursday is our VERY FIRST COPELAND PARK MOON TUNES. Volunteer Sign-ups can be found by clicking here.
WE NEED LOTS MORE VOLUNTEERS TO PULL THIS OFF ON THURSDAY. THERE ARE MORE ROLES FOR US TO FILL DUE TO THE VENUE CHANGE.
Moon Tunes is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator that can complete the sign-ups for the remaining concerts. We also need a Leader and someone to transport the trailer for this week's concert.
As our Club's largest fundraiser, you are encouraged to help pass the bucket if you find yourself at the Park and not officially signed up. Thank you for all your help and enjoy as WE... ROCK... THE... PARK... and raise more funds to accomplish more in our community!!!!!

NEXT WEEK VENUE CHANGE

Here is what you need to bring…
- Older clothes
- Work gloves
- Wire cutter (if you have one)
- Throw away plastic bag to collect the zip ties
- Sunscreen and/or bug spray (optional)
- A smile
- An extra truck or trailer would be helpful.
Open World Update
Thanks to support from Brad and Janie, as well as the thoughtful consideration of the Rotary Works Foundation Board, we received approval of our application to RWF in the amount of $5,000 to help cover airfares for our 5 Open World delegates from Georgia! Our 6250 District Grant Request Application for a matching $5,000 will be submitted by the time you read this newsletter, so we will share the news as soon as we hear a decision on that one. We're currently brainstorming on fundraising possibilities to cover the remaining $2,000 for airfares and additional monies to be able to donate to non-profits who will be participating in the week of education for the delegation. Stay tuned for more!
Host Families Needed for Luxembourg Students
Our Sister city for Junglinster, Luxembourg, will be hosting high school students from Luxembourg this upcoming August 20-September 15, 2023, and they are looking for help! They are seeking 5-6 families in the La Crosse area to host 2 students each (or singles would work as well). This is a community partnership between Central High School, Aquinas High School, Luxembourg/American descendants of the La Crosse region, La Crosse/Junglinster Sister City, Viterbo University and UW La Crosse. There will be a schedule of activities Monday through Friday and some weekends. They speak English very well, but are also fluent in French, German and Luxembourgish.
Please note that traditional families, non-traditional families, single people, roommates, and friends living together - any person or group who is willing to share daily life with an international student can be a host!
Please contact Shari if you have any questions. Thank you!
Retirement party for Brad Quarberg
Brad Quarberg, longtime Valley View Rotarian and UWL director of news and marketing, will retire on July 5. A retirement celebration will be held with UWL campus and community members from 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 7 at the Eagle’s Nest, 1914 Campbell Road. Parking is free and available in Commuter Lot 9 (C-9). RSVP by Friday, June 30. Complete details: https://www.uwlax.edu/calendar/?e=28350
Seeking Raffle Items for our Golf Outing Fundraiser
Auction items should have a value of at least $20, but higher is better :)
Prizes for golfers should come in a quantity of 4 (4 players per team), such as 4 gift cards of the same value. A dozen golf balls works well since there are 4 sleeves per box.
Raffle items should be worth at least $100 but again, higher is better ;)
We would like to to have 3 to 5 items with values ranging from $200 to as much as $500. We already have a quilt (value at least $500) and will likely arrange a golf specific item.
College Football, NFL or equivalent tickets are a good draw also!!!
Thank you for your continued support of this fundraiser that generated $9,000 in profits last year that we were able to donate to the Children's Hospital of Tanzania and the La Crosse Boys and Girls Club.
Not a golfer you say... and want to be involved in this amazing charitable experience to help us make an even bigger impact this year? Please see Bob Newberry or me and we will find a way for you to help grow this event!
Kenya October 2023 Mission Opportunity
Past Rotarian and Friend of Valley View Rotary, Fred Nicklaus, is seeking persons interested in joining him on a trip to Kenya in October to assist Henry Johanga (who visited us last Winter) and his wife who have committed their lives to educating and feeding children at his school, The Anointed Community Academy. Henri ministers to over 300 children and also employs 9 teachers and 2 other staff members. These are children who otherwise would not receive an education or have regular meals each day. Henri’s commitment is changing many young lives in a powerful way every day. anointedcommunityacademy.org
The Aquinas Interact Club has taken on this project as one of their projects and have already begun raising funds.
For more information, Fred can be reached at: 608.792.4006.
