Greetings, Valley View Rotarians! Today was a classic Wisconsin Saturday... cold, blue-sky beauty. I'm happy to say I exited my home (masked) for the first time since Monday and hiked the great new Miller trail in Hixon. I feel amazing compared to recent COVID-infused days and look forward to being able to see you in person again. That said, I will be joining our meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, as my 10 day will end on Thursday. I feel that for a small setting like FD's and the fact that I was really pretty under the weather with the 'Rona, the full 10 day stretch is the safest for our Club.
The grocery store will see me (masked) sooner, I am so excited to have food shopping independence again. Which made me think of all those we are in the fortunate position to serve through Mobile Meals. How difficult it must be to rely on others for the nutrition and enjoyment that comes from mealtime, and to not have choice. Let's remember that when we consider whether we have time to volunteer for Mobile Meals... and when we knock on doors.
Speaking of, we are full-up on volunteers for Valley View Rotary's first Mobile Meals delivery week of the year (Jan. 24-30)! Thank you in advance to: Jill, Steph, Dick, Mary (twice!!), Peggy, Terry, Roger, Heidi and her husband, Scott, Tan, Sarah and Elsa Huber (and myself). For a refresher on your shift, click here.
During the Board meeting this week, we discussed how although we have a lot of affection for Famous Dave's and are very grateful for the reliable, low-cost service Mike and his team always provide, the restaurant's technology issues are an increasing problem and weigh very disproportionally on a few. Of course, this is a Club conversation and a Club decision. I will be raising the topic for group discussion in the coming weeks (probably not on Zoom, but once I'm back in person).
Looking forward to seeing you in person or via Zoom on Wednesday! This week's speaker is Mike Palin on Solar Energy at Home.

Donating the number of years at your birthday to the Rotary Foundation for Polio has become a club tradition. Just log in to My Rotary and click on donate. The participation has been truly awesome and given the average age of our club, this is a significant amount of money!
