We have an important guest as a presenter this week, Colin Walsh from WTC. He will be presenting to our guests from Georgia in October; WTC is hosting us for several of our presentations and is a great partner in this project. Colin may also bring another one or two people who will be participating in the Open World Program.

I start with this information because we also need to have an important club discussion regarding the incident at Moon Toons. The board is meeting on Tuesday morning, and my expectation is that we will have a proposal to discuss at the club meeting on Wednesday morning. I also understand that there is a need for more information about what occurred and probably just time to process this together before the group as a whole can consider whether to approve any recommendation from the board.

That is a lot to cover in 60 minutes. Add to that our discomfort with discussing the Moon Tunes topic in the presence of our guests, and it becomes necessary to modify our usual pattern. So here’s the plan:

We are going to need to keep our normal business meeting super short. I am going to suggest we skip announcements and the rooter until the very end and only do them if we have time.

By 7:45, Shari Lafreddi will be introducing our guests, and they will have until 8:15 for their presentation. At 8:15, there will be a hard stop, and they will be thanked and depart. At that point, board members and I will present our information and open the floor for (brief) discussion before a vote to move forward.

If members feel they have not had sufficient time or have more questions, then as a group, we will need to decide how to proceed.

I did not feel it would be fair to Shari or Colin to try and postpone his visit, which was complicated to schedule. He would not be able to return until after the visit by the Open World delegates, and then it would not have the same importance. We need to prepare/educate ourselves in order to be good hosts!
