Moon Tunes News

Moon Tunes has a new website! It's the perfect way to check for information on the Moon Tunes schedule, and there are links to the websites of the performers so that you can learn more about them.  Check it out and bookmark it: https://www.moontuneslacrosse.com/.
If you sign up for the fan club, it puts you on their mailing list, and you will receive notifications of any last-minute changes or cancellations due to weather. Very handy!
With a little luck, new Moon Tunes T-shirts will have arrived and be on sale Thursday. That means increased sales and all the more reason we need volunteers at the booth.
There are just eight more Moon Tunes performances left in what has been our biggest season ever. So you have just eight more opportunities to help your club by volunteering at the event.
We presently have NO ONE signed up to help with set-up and staffing the booth this week, July 27. This is a 4:30 to 6:30 commitment: just two hours, and you get there early so parking is not hard. We provide shade, chairs, and plenty of cold water, so even with a predicted high of 95°, it’ll be enjoyable.
This week’s concert has had a change in its lineup. Performing will be John Smith & Co. and Big Liquor. (Which cracks me up because it’s also the nickname of one of my dogs: “Big Likker.”)

Hosts Needed for Open World Guests
We have a deadline to submit all host family forms by September 12, which is only eight weeks away. We already have accommodations for three delegates (between Tan and Greg), so we need to accommodate three more (2 delegates and the facilitator). Please consider whether you can house a guest or two, and please talk to your friends in Valley View who are not on the Open World Committee.
This is an opportunity for the delegates to get to know what wonderful people we have in our amazing club, and for you to make new friends from the other side of the world. I hosted three of our Chilean guests and really enjoyed it.

The Open World Committee is awaiting approval of a $5,000 District Grant request to cover the rest of the delegation's airfares. Shari Lafreddi has also submitted a donation request for $5,000 to Kwik-Trip; that money would go toward donations to the non-profits participating in our program.
So fingers crossed that grant requests come through, and if you have the means, please consider being a host!!

Host Families Needed for Luxembourg Students
Our Sister city for Junglinster, Luxembourg, will be hosting high school students from Luxembourg this upcoming August 20-September 15, 2023, and they are looking for help! They are seeking 5-6 families in the La Crosse area to host two students each (or singles would work as well).

This is a community partnership between Central High School, Aquinas High School, Luxembourg/American descendants of the La Crosse region, La Crosse/Junglinster Sister City, Viterbo University, and UW La Crosse. There will be a schedule of activities Monday through Friday and some weekends. They speak English very well but are also fluent in French, German, and Luxembourgish.

Please note that traditional families, non-traditional families, single people, roommates, and friends living together - any person or group who is willing to share daily life with an international student can be a host!

If you are interested in participating, please complete the host family survey as soon as possible. Surveys will be used to match students and families with like interests and needs. Survey: https://uwlax. ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ 82DEOH6rIyWnhZ4
