Greetings, Valley View Rotary family and friends!!!
Thank you to everyone that joined us last week to hear from Mike Kreiling! I hope you enjoyed hearing his message as much as I did.
Please note that we have a change to our speaker schedule. Lucas Herro, originally scheduled to share his Para-archery Journey with us this week has been rescheduled to next month. Lucas was provided with a last-minute opportunity of a lifetime this week to train with an Olympic Gold medalist para-archer in Denver and will not return to La Crosse until later in the week.
Our very own Shari Laffredi will be presenting this week on the Rotary International Open World Program that we have been accepted to participate in as - to our knowledge - one of the first clubs in the area to have an application accepted.
The Open World Leadership Center was founded 20 years ago as a congressional agency and has brought delegates to the United States from several countries. The Open World Program is available only to Rotary Clubs in the United States and provides an opportunity to build fellowship and friendship to strengthen international understanding through hosting of emerging leaders from abroad in our local community. Rotary Clubs in 280 U.S. cities have hosted nearly 4,000 of the program's more than 29,000 delegates.
A special thank you to Katie for returning to the podium this week in my absence. I will share all about my travels with you next week. Please note that next week's newsletter will most likely be sent out later in the day/evening on the Monday.
Mobile Meals
Our remaining weeks for 2023 are: March 20-26, May 22-28, July 24-30 and September 18-24.

More about the La Crosse – Junglinster Sister City Friendship:
La Crosse has a strong Luxembourg immigrant history dating back to the mid 1800s. The Luxembourg American Descendants Society of La Crosse was formed in 2007 to celebrate this past and form present bonds with the people and places in Luxembourg.
In 2020 Aquinas High School students formed the first virtual exchange program with the Lënster Lycée International School in Junglinster, Luxembourg. This exchange was so successful that it is now an annual program and expanded to include Central High School. The Luxembourg American Cultural Society, in Belgium, WI provided the initial connection between Junglinster and La Crosse.
This summer 25 students from Lënster Lycée International school will come to La Crosse, WI with their teachers for several weeks of in person educational experience.
In addition, both Viterbo University and the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse have established educational exchange agreements for students and faculty with the University of Luxembourg.
The strength of these partnerships and new opportunities are the foundation for the new Sister City Friendship between the City of La Crosse and Junglinster.
