Everyone who attended last week’s meeting probably went home feeling that we still have unfinished business regarding the fallout from the board’s decision to continue our longstanding policy of not allowing other groups to advocate or have informational tables at Moon Tunes. This decision was taken very personally by the leaders of The Center, the 7Rivers LGBTQ Connection, and their campaign against us on social media has been swift, angry, and, at times, offensive. This does not make working with them on a resolution easy, and it stresses us as a club.
I know that feelings and opinions are deeply felt and quite divergent. I have always felt that this club is a treasure because of the genuine affection and respect between members and our ability to come together to benefit our community.
It is going to be important for us to remember that there is strength and value in our diversity. That’s my way of saying we need to stick together!
