Cheers to making this day, this week and this year a continuation of the best times ever!!!!  I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead our club this next year and eager to continue the amazing success of all who have served Valley View Rotary prior to me.
 
I want to find some words and means each week to highlight the Theme of "Imagine" for this year, the year that Jennifer Jones leads our organization on the international front as Rotary International President.  In her words, "Imagine, a world that deserves our best, where we get up each day knowing that we can make a difference." 
 
I believe the only obstacles in front us are the stories that we tell ourselves and those around us that roadblock our potential.  To begin this year's journey, I share the wisdom of John Wooden.... "It's what you learn after you know it all that really counts."  I am excited to continue learning how to best serve the members of our club, our community and our world over the next twelve months.  Cheers to all of our best version of ourselves that we are blessed to witness and share with others in this Rotary year!!!!
 
Please join us this Wednesday when we will welcome Amanda Zieba as our Speaker! She will share her experiences as a local author and tell us more about the experiences and inspiration that has led her on her journey of possibility.

Important Notes:
  • Thank you to Stephanie Fraase for volunteering as our representative to Avenues of Service!!!! Stay tuned for more information about this annual event occurring next month, August 16th at the La Crosse Country Club. that is a group effort among the area Rotary Clubs.
  • We are still looking for a volunteer to take Heidi's place as our representative for Mobile Meals. As we get to know each other, you will find that I am always seeking to share what I learn from others. In this instance of asking for volunteers, I like how Jim Rohn phrased it, "Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have." We also have learned from Audrey Hepburn, "As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands - one for helping yourself, the other for helping others."
  • Our next two weeks for Mobile Meals are August 15-21st and November 21st - 27th.  The sign-up for our August week is now live at: Mobile Meals August 2022 Signup | Rotary Club of La Crosse-Valley View (valleyviewrotary.com)
  • Gloves on!!!! Riverfest Fencing Take Down is Thursday, July 5, at 7 a.m. Please contact Mike Herro at Michael.j.herro@xcelenergy.com or 780-1217 if you can volunteer at this annual service project (which nets us a nice check!).
  • School supplies for Northside Elementary... Per your suggestion, Julie Nelson has created an Amazon list to make it easy to order school supplies for Northside Elementary/Coulee Montessori.  You will find that list here.  If you enjoy shopping in a retail store, the collection bin will be at our meeting on July 6th for the final time. 
  • Make sure your directory info is updated!
    Information for the printed directory will be downloaded soon — so make sure your info is correct! You may update the info/images yourself, or contact Brad Quarberg with the info/image at bquarberg@gmail.com. A pdf will be sent to all members around the second week of July so you may print a copy for yourself.
  • Let's get excited about our incoming student Earth!!!! Here is the link to the required background check information for all members interested in volunteering with Rachata (who prefers his nickname Earth), our incoming student from Thailand:

  • Share your Thoughts!!! As a follow-up to last week's speaker, you are invited to share your feedback for La Crosse's future at www.forwardlacrosse.org and let your voice be heard on how you would like to see La Crosse developed in the near future.  This is an interactive site that allows you to contribute your thoughts, ideas and concerns.

Donating the number of years at your birthday to the Rotary Foundation for Polio has become a club tradition.   Just log in to My Rotary and click on donate.   The participation has been truly awesome and given the average age of our club, this is a significant amount of money!
