Valleyview Rotarians,
My first Newsletter. Only 51 to go! First off we all need to thank Julie for doing an outstanding job leading this group for the last year in spite of the world disrupting our lives. Not an easy task, but I think we are doing as well as can be expected.
We will meet by Zoom on Wednesday July 1st, 8th and the 15th the rest of the summer remains to be seen. We are currently exploring the La Crosse Country Club as an option along with other options. Hard to know what is the right thing to do. I have 6 members who have told me they will not be meeting in person anytime soon and 5 members who have made the effort to ask me to start meetings now, they miss you guys! That leaves about 50 that aren't sure what we should do, including me. So hang tight while we see what progress we make as a county.
One advantage of meeting by Zoom is there are no meal costs, meaning our club costs, are a little less. Your most recent invoice will reflect the change: $60 for 85+ members and $90 for everyone else for the quarter April-June. If you have any questions, contact Jim Warren.
I was thinking that maybe we are all getting a little Zoomed out?? What would your thoughts be on Zooming a meetings 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays, then maybe a informal social on the 4th Wednesday for the next few months? There are 5 Wednesdays in July and September, I thought we might be able to come up with a volunteer project/work day for the end of those months? (Clearwater Farm has a work project?) I know we are all old and work is not what we have done traditionally as a club, but with all of our experience and wisdom, perhaps we could do something of value? Ideas, comments?? I would love to get some more input as to what you want your club to do for you.
Terry Bauer continues to push for a Moon Tunes opening, but so far the world has said no. Keep up the great work Terry!
We all need to thank Sue Weidemann for well over a decade of service to the club behind the scenes. She has created and maintained our web site along with a half dozen others we have asked for over that time. All good things come to an end and with our new club runner software we can now rely on the President or designee to keep the web site up to date semi automatically. Sue is working to make the transition to the Club Runner site, so when you see her (probably on line!) be sure to acknowledge her time intensive contribution to the club. Anyone who has created a web site knows that it takes a basket full of hours to do so. A bottle of wine would be appropriate or maybe some Christmas wrapping paper??
A last reminder about the address for sending your contributions to Rotar Rooter, Jeremiah Mc Kinney, Polio Plus, the Rotary Foundation or any other Rotary-related cause you like to be a part of. Please send your contribution by June 30th to Jim Warren at PO Box 545, La Crosse, WI 54602-0545.
