The end of the Moon Tunes season has become synonymous with Fall for me. Schools are in session, days are shorter, and nights are (thank heavens) cooler. I am sad that Moon Tunes is over but proud that we have yet another successful season to reflect on. This has become our signature event and one of the major summer events in La Crosse.

 

Interesting note: even though it is announced at least once at every concert, I still have friends and acquaintances who, on hearing that my Rotary club puts on Moon Tunes, react with surprise. “Oh, really?!” Maybe they’re just surprised that I could be involved in something so successful, or maybe we need to amp up our marketing!

Rotary After Hours is sponsoring a minigolf version of a golfing fundraiser to raise money to support their youth exchange program. September 21, 5:30 to 9:30, at the Riverside Amusement Park. Support a good cause and show off your skill on the putting green. If you have a dark green sports jacket to wear, all the better.

iFeed is also coming up, with Part 1 occurring on Saturday, November 4, from 8 a.m. to noon at Logan High School. This is a project of the 7 area Interact clubs.

 Part 1 of the event will pack 80,000 highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice meals that will be shipped overseas via the Kids Against Hunger organization. Thirty teams (450+ volunteers) will pack for four total hours. Part 2 is a MEGA food drive spanning the Coulee Region and beyond. You will be hearing more, but for now, put Nov. 4 on your calendars.

 

On Wednesday, September 27, we will have a very special guest: District Governor Michele McGrath. Michele is an inspired speaker and an energetic presence. She represents us to the larger Rotary community and has been very supportive of our Open World project. Be sure to make this meeting and give her a warm VVR welcome.
