We will be meeting off-site March 4 at the John and Linda Lyche Boys and Girls Club in Onalaska. It will be important for everyone to enter Door A of the Onalaska Middle School (on the Boys and Girls Club side), because Ericka will need to buzz everyone in.
John and Linda Lyche have always been supportive of the Boys & Girls Club, so it was no stretch for them to consider lending a helping hand to create a new Club in Onalaska. What started out as a small conversation amongst friends, has quickly become a reality. Since the grand opening of the John and Linda Lyche Boys and Girls Club in November, we have over 200 registered members serving grades K-12th after school!
This year's Midwest PETS (President-Elect Training Seminar) is supporting Project C.U.R.E., an international nonprofit meeting the healthcare needs of people in poverty, disasters and violence, which developed Kits for Kids to contain the items parents should have to care for their kids. Each bag contains items like bandages, ointments, fever reducer, toothbrush & toothpaste, soap, combs, etc. Each of the six districts that make up Midwest PETS is responsible for two specific items to collect and bring to the conference March 6-8. Our club is asked to donate the following:
Blunt tip scissors AND
Junior or regular strength tablet acetaminophen (NO liquids)
Please bring these items to Shari at one of the next two meetings, February 25 OR March 4 (off-site at Lyche Boys & Girls Club in Onalaska). Thank you!
The Terry Bauer Moon Tunes Special Project Fund helps support the projects and mission of the Valley View Rotary Club. The fund willsupport community programs and projects that benefit the Greater La Crosse Area that make the area a better place to live, work, play and visit. Beneficiariesinclude the arts, beautification, recreation, health and social well-being, with special emphasis given to music, music education and music-related programs.
The fund was created by the Valley View Rotary Club to recognize Bauer, the founder of the club’s popular summer concert series held in La Crosse’s Riverside Park. Moon Tunes, starting its 15th season, offers a free summer concert series that raises donations and awareness for the park’s bandshell renovation and other amenities. Friends and families bring lawn chairs, beverages and snacks and hear music from the area’s greatest musicians. Valley View Rotarians pass around buckets at intermission for donations.

We are seeking host families in the West Salem School district for our high school age international exchange student Aug 2026-July 2027. The exchange period is split between 3 host families so about 3 1/2 months per family. This is a life enriching experience for both the host families and the student.
"Hosting pushes us outside the regular hum-drum of daily life. We are more likely to go to activities, visit cities, museums—all fun! And we appreciate learning about the student, their culture, and language." ~2024 La Crosse WI Host Family

When Shari Laffredi was working with Viterbo University during the Ukrainian delegation's Open World visit, she made contact with a student organization called "The Sustainability Club" (Sustainability Club offers a way into environmentalism – Lumen). Since sunflowers are a significant industry in Ukraine, they plan to do a "Sunflowers for Ukraine" fundraiser. They will have a booth at the Logan High School Spring Craft Show on Saturday, March 21, where they will sell sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, sunflowers, and sunflower-themed paintings and crafts. “100% of proceeds will go to UNITED24:UNITED24 - The Initiative of the President of the Ukraine”. I know we have many talented, crafty and artistic people in our club, so if anyone would like to create or donate artwork/crafts to sell at this fundraiser, your donations would be very welcome! As we get closer to the event, we will work out details for setup/takedown and manning the booth from 9am-3pm. If anyone has art/crafts to offer, can help out at the booth on 3/21, or has questions, please contact Shari at slaffredi@yahoo.com or 262-488-0021. More info to come. Thank you!
