At the April 9 meeting members and guests (it was "Invite a New Member Day") packed 400 snack bags for Northside Elementary. The energy in the room was wonderful!

Time in Rotary: Twenty of us started a Rotary Club in Litchfield, Minnesota. We got our charter in December of 1979. It turns out I was the Charter President for the next six months until the July 1 start of the next Rotary year. Best moment(s): Several have to do with the International focus of Rotary. We were hosts for four different Rotary Exchange students and our younger son spent a year in Finland as part of the program. And being a part of the Open World program has given me the chance to make lasting friendships with the folks in the delegation from the Republic of Georgia. Favorite thing about Rotary: All the opportunities to serve locally and around the world while working together with other Rotarians. Fun fact: I was only 19 when Linda and I decided to get married, so MY MOM had to go with me to the courthouse to apply for the license. It was a good call, though, since we’ll be celebrating our 57th anniversary this summer.
Ana, along with about 40 Valley View Rotarians and guests, gathered at Weidemann's last Friday to make tortillas and other Mexican dishes for dinner. We all had chances to participate in making things (but with no pressure) and then ate extremely well! The $35 collected from each person will go to funding Ana's end of the year trip. In addition to the Weidemanns, thanks to all who provided food & drinks, the tortilla press, and planned this event! If you weren't able to attend on Friday but would like to contribute to the trip, please write a check to 'Valley View Rotary' with 'Ana' on the memo line and give it to Dick Spencer or Nancy Schmidt.'
Nominations for this year's Avenues of Service Awards are due by May 1 (though our Assistant Governor notes that the District has gotten behind on planning this so we may have a bit longer). Information about the event, including nomination forms, can be found here: https://rotarycluboflacrosse.org/sitepage/avenues-of-service-dinner/area-rotary-clubs-avenues-of-service-dinner . If you wish to nominate someone from our club please fill out a nomination and get it to Scott as soon as possible.
