OFFSITE MEETING THIS WEEK
Plan to come to Celebrations on the River this Wednesday for our weekly meeting.  (same building as Shenanigans on French Island).  Mark Etrheim will be showing us the improvements they've made and will discuss how this can impact the local economy.  We'll have a light breakfast and a great tour.
DON'T come to Famous Dave's.

The gauntlet has been laid: in honor of her 60th birthday, Sue Weidemann has donated $60 to polio plus and she's challenging every Rotarian to donate their age in dollars on their birthday.  Dick Spencer has the next birthday in the club, and he's even older than Sue; will he come through?  You are welcome to ask him about that at Celebrations on Wednesday.

Our club contributes to the Rotary Works Foundation, money that is spent making our communities stronger. Thanks to Keli Frigo for serving on the Foundation and offering this report:
1. $1000 approved for Universal Art Experience project. This La Crosse Public Education Foundation project provides special education students and those with mobility, cognitive, behavior and sensory challenges in La Crosse and La Crescent School Districts with a 2-day art-rich integrated experience in April 2020. This will be accomplished using Zot Artz universal art tools to create a Universal Art Experience.
2. $2000 approved for the Good Fight Community Center to support a variety of programs that help at-risk and disadvantaged youth with hope, encouragement and a safe environment to develop person goals and values.
3. $2500 to help build an all inclusive playground in Veterans Park in La Crescent. The La Crescent Rotary Club is also donating funds to this project.

Are you interested in reading and discussing the book Waking Up White?  We have a team of Rotarians in this club who are organizing a series of discussion sessions.  The first one is February 5th at 7:00 a.m. in the bar area at Famous Dave's. Plan to discuss sections 1-3: Childhood in White, Midlife Wake Up Call and Why didn't I Wake Up Sooner?

Tickets for the concert Terry Bauer is organizing to benefit Moon Tunes are expected to go fast.  Moon Tunes in the Winter promises to be a heckuva beach party on Leap Day - February 29th.  In addition to general admission, there are a limited number of  VIP tickets.  See the events link on the right to get your tickets now.   The Riverfest Commodores are co-sponsoring the event and we will share the proceeds 50/50 with them.
